kentucky new id 2

Starting on June 28th, Franklin County, Kentucky will be the first to start rolling out the Real ID compliant driver’s licenses.

Residents will be able to choose between standard and travel licenses. The travel license offers all the benefits of a standard license, plus the ability to be accepted at airport security checkpoints and military bases.

The new design will have nearly twice as many security features and Kentucky symbols. Examples include the state seal, state flower, and the Capitol building. A notable change will be the driver’s license photo: going from color to black and white portraits. All travel IDs will include a mark to indicate that they are federally compliant (the star within a circle, pictured right).

The new design features will be more difficult to forge. To ensure your business is stopping even the most sophisticated fake IDs, consider our fake ID scanner, IDentiFake.
